Came here for happy hour and was very impressed! 1$ oyster were so good and the lychee martini was delicious! Would definitely come back. Service was great and nice music was playing~

We were so happy to finally try Glass Box! My husband and I are avid sushi and raw fish lovers and have been lucky to experience sushi and raw fish around the world. Overall, glass box offers fantastic fresh fish and you can tell the quality in every bite. That being said, it is pretty pricey for what it is, but overall the experience is where the higher prices come in. We started out with the karaage and I was in love! Perfectly crispy and the szechuan chili sauce was just the best addition to add more flavor. Our friend did order the Omakase wonderment experience so we did try a few pieces from their experience. I personally had an oyster on the half shell with a jalapeño lemon drizzle and it was fantastic. You could tell the oysters alone were a great catch! My husband and I stuck to rolls, but Glass Box does offer a lot of different entree options for those who may not just want sushi. We ordered the yellowtail (hamachi) nigiri, the 3 way salmon roll, the samurai roll, and the rainbow roll. Unfortunately, I really love ordering rainbow rolls since I love offers with an assortment of fish and this roll was just as delicious as expected. Absolutely fresh! My favorite fish is usually salmon or hamachi, but I couldn't pick a favorite on this roll as they were all so fresh and buttery. The 3 way salmon roll really gave the buttery texture and taste of salmon that was noticeable in every bite. Another fantastic roll. Our favorite roll was the samurai roll. We loved it so much, we ordered it again at the end. We are both suckers for eel sauce and with the combo of shrimp, salmon, spicy tuna, eel sauce, and avocado? Say less. It was perfection. Also! Their Lychitini is divine! Perfectly crisp and not too sweet with a balanced flavor of lychee. I highly recommend trying this cocktail. While I do think Glass Box offers fantastic options, I don't think it's necessarily worth it here more price wise than other fantastic sushi options in San Diego. I would say the Omakase experience is worth it here though, as it changes everyday. Our service was great, even for a busy night. I would suggest making a reservation ahead of time on their website as they do get booked out quickly. This location is in the Sky Deck (Del Mar food haul) and shares parking with the shopping center itself. There is plenty of parking.

Glass Box is at the back of the SkyDeck at the Highlands mall. About half of the restaurant is typical tables separated by a railing from the rest of the complex. The inner half is a cool looking glass box with a sushi bar and a number of seats so that you can interact with the sushi chefs directly. The place is very pricey and IMO not worth the price. However, the lunch and happy hour menus are good deals. I would rate the sushi as good but not great. Most was very good but my salmon sashimi and roll were fishy smelling and tasting. The katsu was excellent, however, the curry was way too salty. A good place to stop by if you can make it for the lunch or happy hour.

My girlfriends and I love GlassBox! Everything in the SkyDeck is nice and the ambience is always lovely. We love the Happy Hour!! You can get smaller portions of food for cheaper prices and we tend to sample them all. They've always been accommodating for us since sometimes we show up on a whim and don't make reservations, but they always seem to get us in.. so thank you for being so nice!! Happy Hour ends at 6pm and we showed up at 550pm once and they still were nice enough to allow us to sit, as long as we were gone by the reservation time. We always enjoy the food here!!

Definitely enjoyed dinner here. Had ordered fried rice before but didn't dine in. We made it before happy hour and need and we were able to get salmon poke tacos (delicious, would love to try the tuna sometime) shrimp tempura roll, and Karaage. I also had the $5 happy hour house red. The Karaaage was ok but very happy with the 2 other happy hour dishes. Then we shared the steak fried rices and seabass. Both were delicious. We had so much food and were so full. Had newly 2 more we servings of left overs to take home and the bill was very reasonably priced for everything we got plus wine. Would definitely recommend. .

Experiences like this are exactly why I love Restaurant Week! I've been meaning to try Glassbox for a while, and this was the perfect opportunity. Honestly, this was one of the best Restaurant Week experiences I've ever had. I started with the Wonton Soup, which was incredibly flavorful and well-balanced--such a great way to kick things off. Next was the 8-piece Sashimi Tasting, and it was just as impressive. Fresh, beautifully plated. For my entrée, I had the Filet Mongolian Style, and it was perfectly cooked. The flavors all worked so well together, and the dish was rich and satisfying without being too heavy. Dessert was chef's choice, and while I'm not exactly sure what it was, I wish I knew so I could find it again--it was amazing! Such a perfect sweet ending to the meal. I also had the Raspberry Royale cocktail, which was just as impressive as the food--refreshing, balanced, and something I'd absolutely order again. From start to finish, everything about this meal was outstanding. I need to come back and explore more of the menu. If you haven't been to Glassbox yet, make a reservation--you won't regret it!

Located inside the Sky Box in Del Mar, Glass Box is known for their delicious seafood and Japanese dishes. Their lunch menu is daily from 11AM-4PM and Happy Hour is also daily from 2PM-6PM. I love that they offer these every single day AND lunch and happy hour overlaps! We arrived later in the day and were able to take advantage of both menus. Since this was in the afternoon, there weren't many parties seated and we were immediately taken care of. If you're ordering an entree from the lunch menu, each one comes with either salad or miso soup. Karaage: Completely forgot to wait until Happy Hour so we ordered this off of the normal menu. I'm not sure if they scale the size based on which menu it's ordered from but we got a lot. They use dark meat so every piece was juicy but this was more like Taiwanese popcorn chicken than karaage. Still good though! Beef Skewers: 5 pieces for $5 on their Happy Hour menu is such a good deal. It's well flavored but a little dry in some areas. These were probably from a lean cut and I would have liked it more if it came with some fatty pieces. Good price though! 3 Way Salmon Roll: Since they're known for the seafood, we had to get some type of sushi roll. Each bite hits you with different textures, like the soft salmon, the crispy salmon skin, and the popping ikura. If you're a fan of anything salmon, this is the roll for you. Kalbi Ribs: One of the best kalbi ribs I've had in San Diego! The marinade is delicious and each piece is super tender. It's a generous portion for their lunch menu; my plate had about 9 bones. It also comes with rice and kimchi and it the presentation looks a little sad but it's well worth the price. Excited to have found a place with great lunch deals and daily happy hour! Will need to be back someday to try their omakase.

Glass Box is an Asian fusion restaurant inside Sky Deck. Dined here during San Diego restaurant week and subsequently for happy hour and sushi. Service was attentive. Ambiance was lively. For the restaurant week lunch, I wanted to honor Lunar New Year and ordered the Prosperity Salad and the Longevity Noodles added shrimp and filet Mignon...noodles were so good, had a seasoned wok char essence. Additionally, ordered white miso soup and a Yakitori of filet Mignon for my pup Fendi, who really liked it. Later returned for happy hour to enjoy drinks and sushi. The lychee martini and sushi assortments were all delish and tasted fresh. If in the area, I would return. Recommend

I was excited to get reservations to Glassbox since I always see them at Yelp events! Their food samples at the Yelp events are always so fresh and delicious and I wanted to try their storefront for the first time. Restaurant Week Choices: Prosperity Salad: Loved how crisp and fresh the veggies were in this salad! Hoping for prosperity during the New Year! Sashimi Tasting - 8 pieces of beautifully plated and expertly cut fish. So tender and the wasabi was so powerful! Made my nose run lol. Green Tea White Fish - A generous portion of delicate fish with a savory broth. This was delicious! I actually couldn't finish this because it was a lot for me so I ate for lunch the next day :). Filet Mongolian Style - I tasted a little bit of this. Meat was tender. It was accompanied with fried rice, so to me, it reminded me of an elevated comfort dish. All that was missing was the runny egg lol. Chefs Choice Dessert - Fluffy crepe cake with berry sauce and a berry gelato on top of honey toast. This was so good! Portion sizes were generous and I finished the whole thing. The toast was a little hard to slice with the butter knife, so I did ask for a sharper knife to help cut through this dessert. The three course meal was more than enough food to be honest. Service was fast and efficient and the servers were friendly. Definitely will come back again to try more dishes!

Located at Sky Deck in the very back. I highly recommend dining here for happy hour that is from 2pm - 6pm Monday to Sunday (AKA Everyday lol). All the food here was super yummy. You are able to reserve tables online which is very convenient. I have ate here a total of 3 times now and would say that a party of around 8 would be the max due to the limited seating area. The Happy Hour (HH) menu is very much worth your money that includes drinks and food. My party of three only got from the happy hour menu and felt so full. I suggest ordering a whole bunch of things and sharing so you can taste multiple things. I am not into oysters, but I saw every other table going to town eating oysters. By the way the oysters were HUGE! I am tempted to visit next time to try the oysters. The overall appearance of the restauraunt is legit a glass box with blue lights. The bathroom is the communal bathroom in the back right of the food hall. The interior design of the restauraunt is cute. I can see this place as a small party of 4, for a date nigh, business lunch, or just wanting some good food. There is a tiny bar section that they have specifically to their restauraunt as well. Little FYI Hack: If you are 21+ and go to understory (bar at the center of the food hall, you can order food from all the restauraunts)
